PASTOR BIOS

Greg Hyre
Senior Pastor
Darke County has been home to my wife Shaun and me most of our lives. We both graduated from the same high school, Tri-Village, in New Madison, Ohio. We dated in high school and married in 1982. At the time of marriage, we also started our lives as followers of Jesus. We were baptized together a few months before we married. God made His purpose clear when in 1990 He requested I leave secular employment and commit to pastoral ministry. This decision led to many years of training. I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary. I later finished my doctor’s degree from Grace Theological Seminary. Along the way, I have served four churches, three in this general area and one in Cincinnati, in various positions and ministry responsibilities. Through the soon to be 25 years of ministry, I have experienced many things in different size churches to provide a broad understanding toward helping people know God and what He expects.
In 1997 our only child, Zach, was born into our family. Like the joy and challenges of ministry, being a dad is a wonderful adventure. Shaun and I spend time attending Zach’s many sporting events along with outdoor activities that include walking, running and occasional hiking. We further enjoying studying various topics together to keep our connection with Jesus growing and challenging.

Discipleship Pastor
Hello! Darke County is brand new to me and my family. We moved from the other side of Dayton to come serve here at Castine Church. While Jenna has lived in South West Ohio most of her life, I have lived in Chicago area, Scranton PA area, and Dayton area. Jenna and I met in the symphonic band while in college at Cedarville University. I graduated with a degree in Youth Ministry and have been serving as a web developer, and a video producer most of my adult life. The last 3 years have seen God call me to pastoral ministry, specifically small groups and discipleship. My wife is an oncology nurse with the Kettering network of hospitals. We have 3 awesome kids, Eli, Isaiah, and Leanore. We all love to cook, bake, host and do things outdoors.
My goal at Castine Church is to help people not only develop community, but to develop community that points others towards Christ and develops people into genuine, replicative Christ followers.

Andrew Costa
Student Pastor
Although I am not a Darke County native, my wife Heather was born and raised here. I have grown up a couple of different places, Chicago, Sao Paolo and finally Cincinnati. Heather and I met in College while serving in para-church ministry. I have served in student ministries in both volunteer and staff capacities starting with volunteering in college.
I graduated from Ohio University with a Major in History (‘05) and went on to finish my Masters of Divinity Online from Liberty Baptist Seminary (‘13) . Heather is a Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist completing her Master's work at Ohio University. We have three Kids, Isabel, Samuel and Mariana.
We enjoy our time with teenagers as well as cooking, hosting, and visiting local cities to find hidden treasures like museums and greasy spoons. Our goal at Castine Church is to raise the Next Generation of Church leaders by training students how to walk out their faith as part of a local church community.
